Recently my little 2 year old boy was given a Barrell of Monkeys. It took all of one minute for the monkeys to find new homes. In the toilet. Behind the lounge room cabinet. In the freezer. Under the couch. In fact, I found monkeys everywhere but in the barrell they came in. I took a moment to reflect on these red, blue and yellow monkeys from my own childhood, and was suddenly inspired to make these little plastic marvels into the subject of a new humour comic category – Monkey Business (in a barrell).
I hope you enjoy my comic, because it departs from my usual methods and has been drawn by hand rather than using Sketchbook Pro on iPad. In fact, it has really turned me back on to hand drawn comics. There will be plenty more to come in this series, because I literally can’t stop thinking of the human connotations of different coloured monkeys living in a barrell (or out of it, as is the case in this house!)
Josh my boy, thank you for the inspiration. And to my ever patient wife, thank you!

Your kind comment is lovely and I think it is awesome how you described the monkeys missing around the house…so funnny and true. I love your drawings! Xx
